The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that the Lokpal members could be appointed even in the absence of a Leader of Opposition. Notably, the government is yet to introduce Lokpal as there is no Leader of Opposition in the present government. Calling the Lokpal Act an “eminent workable piece of legislation”, the Supreme Court has asked the government to enforce Lokpal with Prime Minister, Lok Sabha Speaker and the Chief Justice of India as the members of the selection committee.
