According to reports, the prices of petrol and diesel have been hiked in Tamil Nadu due to the increase in the VAT tax in the state. Reportedly, in Tamil Nadu, VAT on petrol has been increased to 34% from 27%, while, for diesel, it has gone up to 25% from 21.43%. The petrol price has risen by Rs 3.79, while the diesel price has gone up by Rs 1.74. Notably, MDMK general secretary Vaiko and BJP Tamil Nadu unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan have urged the state government to take back the price rise.
