Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia has reportedly said that a penalty of equal amount awaits for those who receive more than Rs 3 Lakh in cash from the 1st of April. The move is aimed to track large cash transactions, and also to curb the avenues of conspicuous consumption through cash. The penalty will not apply to the government, post office savings bank and banking companies.
