Shiromani Akali Dal leader and Punjab's outgoing CM Parkash Singh Badal defeated Congress' CM candidate Capt Amarinder Singh from the Lambi constituency. Badal polled over 66,000 votes while Amarinder got over 43,000 votes. However, Amarinder won from the Patiala urban seat by over 50,000 votes. Meanwhile, former Cricketer and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu won from the Amritsar-East constituency by over 42,000 votes.
