According to reports, more than ten lakh coconut trees have died across the state of Tamil Nadu due to the ongoing drought season. The state government has reportedly blamed it on 'poor monsoon'. Notably, the Chief Minister Palaniswami on Wednesday announced that the government is taking all the necessary steps to help coconut farmers. The coconut farmers association on Thursday reportedly asked for 'at least Rs. 10,000' as compensation for each tree lost.
