According to reports, oil deposits were found on the sands at Nochikuppam and Pattinapakkam areas of the Marina beach on Monday. This comes at the back of a collision between two ships off the Kamarajar Port in Ennore on Sunday. Meanwhile, an official at the Zoological Survey of India has raised concerns over the incident and asserted that it would affect the spawning season for fishes and the nesting time for turtles in January and February.
