New Zealand to follow Australia on restricting work visas

The government of New Zealand on Wednesday announced that it plans to restrict access to skilled work visas to favour its natives on better job opportunities. Notably, This comes a day after Australia announced that it would replace the skilled 457 visa to offer better employment opportunities to its citizens. The new measures are aimed at controlling record-high levels of migration to New Zealand, amid growing concern about housing shortages, road congestion and overcrowding in Auckland, and the other main cities of New Zealand.
