According to reports, Nepal is set to create free WiFi zones at the 5,360-metre-high Everest base camp, making it the world's highest location offering free WiFi services. Nepal Telecommunications Authority Chairperson Digambar Jha said the WiFi service would facilitate communication and help aid rescue efforts. Jha added that special optical fibres resistant to cold weather and icefall are set to be used for the service.
