Foresters in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in the Nilgiris have reportedly booked 186 cases of visitors violating a ban on ‘selfies’ in April and May. According to officials, the forest department collected Rs 4.35 lakh in fines from offenders in just two months. People tend to stop their vehicles on road when they spot animals, and try to take selfies with the animals in the backdrop without understanding the risk involved, a forest range officer reportedly said.
