Chennai Metro Rail’s phase I extension has officially begun on Tuesday. The tunnel boring machines have started creating channels for the underground network from Washermanpet to Wimco Nagar for a distance of 9 km. Notably, this was the last project inaugurated by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa before she died.
