The quantity of water needed to make one cotton t-shirt is 2,700 litres, which is enough for a person to drink for about 900 days, according to reports. The quantity is based on the quantity of water required to grow enough cotton to manufacture the t-shirt. This is referred to as 'virtual water', meaning water used to create goods and services, say reports.
