ABCD has been working on Cannabis Price Index to find locations around the world who are likely ready to accept the legalisation of weed. At the end of the survey, India remained to be the cheapest place to buy weed with $ 4.38 per gram ( RS 315) in Delhi and $4.57 (Rs 328) per gram in Mumbai.
Tokyo was identified to be the most expensive place where one gram weed is being sold at $32.66 (Rs. 2,348). Further, the study analysed the possibilities of legalising weed in India. It was estimated that Delhi could raise Rs. 725 crore and Mumbai could get Rs 641 crore income if weed was legalised and sold at the same tax rate as Cigarettes.
With one of the highest weed consumption countries in the World, the prospects of looking into the business angle of the product in India may soon be expected in the near future considering the medicinal aspects of marijuana. Earlier this year, cannabis was legalised in Toronto, Canada.
