Home > News Shots > LifestyleCooking is an essential skill and the lockdown has reinforced it once again. But fret not, we have listed simple recipes for you to make which doesn’t make your head spin and also works out as a way to ward off boredom. Take the tawa and get going.
Tomato rice
Tomato rice is literally one of the best saviours. Here’s a simple recipe to be done with a help of a pressure cooker. Keep the pressure cooker on heated flame, pour oil, crack mustards, add chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder, curry leaves, garlic cloves, tomatoes (chopped as per your liking). Kindle the mix for some time and let it simmer for three-four whistles after adding appropriate amount of water. Viola, your Tomato baath is ready!
Curd rice
There couldn’t frankly be anything easier to make and tastier than curd rice. All you need to do is mix yogurt and rice and top of it, add tempered seasoning (curry leaves, salt, urad dhal, mustard, chillies) and you are done.
Upma
The humble upma! Though not everyone’s cup of tea, it’s a one-pot dish that’s easy to make and satisfies your hunger pangs for a long time. Heat tawa, add mustard in oil, green chillies, veggies of your choice, water, rava, garlic cloves, salt, turmeric powder, and give a hearty mix and it’s done.
Rasam
This dish is also as simple as it gets. Heat tawa, crackle mustard in oil, add tomato, water, toor dal mash, rasam powder, salt, garlic cloves, chilli powder and turmeric powder. Allow the mix to come to a boil and it’s done. Rasam can be mixed with rice and be had or also works standalone as a soothing soup.
Bread omelette
This dish can take a number of forms – breakfast, evening snack or dinner – whichever way you see it. Roast bread sides carefully, dip them in egg mix, coat them in mint chutney (optional) and your fix of the day is ready.
