One year after Cottalango Leon won the Academy Award for scientific and technical achievement, another person from Coimbatore has reportedly won an Oscar in the same field. Kiran Bhat, who completed his schooling in Coimbatore, has won the award for design and development of the ILM facial performance-capture solving system along with his team. Notably, Bhat is alumni of BITS Pilani and Carnegie Mellon University.
