According to reports, the traditional snake boat racing which is held in Kerala during the Onam festival is set to become an IPL-like league-based sport with the inaugural edition of the Kerala Boat Race League scheduled to start in August this year. Reportedly, the league comprises of nine races and will feature 100-feet long snake boats, and require around a hundred rowers to ride.
