Jamaican woman at 117 is the world’s oldest human alive

Violet Brown, a Jamaican woman who spent much of her life cutting sugarcane in the fields around her home, has become the oldest person in the world. Born on March 10, 1900, Brown is 117 years and 38 days old. The previous oldest person, Emma Morano, the Italian woman, died at 117 on Saturday. However, Brown has not yet been declared the world's oldest by Guinness World Records.
