MARTYRED SOLDIER'S WIFE JOINS INDIAN ARMY AS LIEUTENANT, YEARS AFTER HUSBAND'S DEATH

Losing a loved one can be extremely painful. That is especially true for the family of those serving in the army. But there are instance of people staying strong, even after the loss of a loved one.
Meet Neeru Sambyal, the wife of an Indian army soldier, who joined the army after her husband was killed in action. Neeru joined the armed forces as a Lieutenant, three years after her husband was killed in Jammu and Kashmir.
Neeru got married to Ravinder in 2013. Their daughter was only 2-years-old when he was killed in 2015. After he husband's demise, Neeru undertook all the responsibilities of a mother, and also stepped into the shoes of her late husband.
"My husband was in the infantry. It was really difficult to accept the reality after he got martyred. But for me, my daughter is my inspiration. I never wanted her to feel the absence of her father and wished to fill for both roles, of a father and mother," she said
Neeru completed 49 weeks of intense training, and was commissioned on September 8. She had the full support of her family through the whole journey of becoming an officer.
