Three state-owned research bodies, Indian Railways Organisation for Alternate Fuels (IROAF), Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) Dehradun and National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) are reportedly joining hands together to develop the next generation of fuel resources. According to reports, the research bodies are betting on using methanol as the next generation fuel resource. Notably, the announcement comes a week after Indian government announced to shift all its vehicles electric by 2030.
