The sword to be mounted on the huge Kempegowda statue that is being constructed in the state of Karnataka arrived in Bangalore yesterday.
Kempegowda
Historians say that Kempegowda, who ruled most of Karnataka in the 16th century, was very friendly with the people. Born in 1513 in a village near Yelahanka, Gowda was a prominent ruler during the Vijayanagara Empire. Kempegowda is proud to have designed the infrastructure of Karnataka at that time, including roads. This is why people called him the creator of Bangalore.
Statue
The majestic statue of Kempegowda, one of the prominent rulers of Karnataka, near the Bangalore airport is being constructed in full swing. Kempegowda Heritage Park is located on an area of 23 acres in one part of the airport. A 108-foot-tall statue of Kempegowda is being erected here.
The statue features Kempegowda carrying a sword. The giant sword weighing 4000 kg to be fitted in it arrived in Bangalore yesterday from New Delhi. The 35-foot-long sword was welcomed by Karnataka Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan. Special poojas were also conducted for this.
