The incident where a college student drank acid instead of water after playing volleyball has caused shock.

Student critical after accidentally drinking acid in Vijayawada

Chaitanya (age 21) hails from Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. He is a 3rd year student in a college in Vijayawada. When he asked the shopkeeper to give him a bottle of water to drink, the latter asked him to get it from the fridge. Chaitanya then took a water bottle from the fridge and drank it.

As soon as he drank it, he screamed in pain and it was later revealed that he had mistakenly drank the acid instead of water which has hurt the whole of Chaitanya's mouth and intestines as it were burnt. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in Vijayawada for treatment.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the shopkeeper. It was then revealed that Chaitanya had inadvertently drunk a bottle of acid that had been poured near the water bottle. Following the news of the incident spreading among college students, they went on strike demanding the arrest of the shopowner. Thus there was unrest in the area. The incident in which a college student accidentally drank acid as a water bottle has caused shock.
