With the help of two Indian Air Force helicopters, Indian Air Force officials are also involved in the rescue operation. The accident is said to have taken place when the devotees were returning after visiting the Baba Baidyanath Temple. Also, two people were killed and at least 14 were injured in the crash. The crash is said to have been caused by a technical glitch in the cable cars. However, the cause of the accident is unknown.
Similarly, reports say that the rope car manager and other employees fled the scene shortly after the accident. Meanwhile, a couple is said to have been injured and are being treated after a fall.
Help from the villagers
Together with the National Disaster Rescue Force, the villagers were also actively involved in the rescue efforts. All these rescue operations were carried out by Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bajantri and SI. It is being held under the leadership of Subhash Chandra. Commenting on the situation, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bajantri said, "The situation here is now under control. Some people are still trapped in the rope car. Rescue operations are underway. All the tourists are being rescued safely. Along with the National Disaster Rescue Force, locals are also assisting."
This is the longest steep ropeway in India, according to the Jharkhand Tourism Department. Also, this ropeway is located at a distance of about 20 km from the Baba Baidyanath Temple. The total length is 766 m, and the mountain range alone is 392 m high.
As well as having a total of 25 cabins in this rope car, it can carry up to four people in each.
