India to witness its first womb transplants next week

According to reports, Pune-based doctors will lead India's first womb transplantation in the third week of May by transferring two uteri from healthy donors to two recipients, who are weak to bear children. Notably, Uterus transplantation was first done in Sweden in a 16-hour-surgery in 2012 and the first baby, born to the recipient in 2014, was delivered early by caesarian section in a healthy condition.
