The secretary in the Ministry of Earth Sciences, M Rajeevan, said that the government is planning to set up a Tsunami Warning System (TWS) in the South China Sea. India already has a system in place to provide tsunami warning to southeast and south Asian nations. "India is the chairperson of RIMES. We are also a major contributor in terms of resources. So, we are exploring the possibility of having a tsunami early warning system in the South China Sea", Rajeevan said.
