You have to hand it to the cops. Always thinking of unique ways to drive home the message that safety is paramount. During the past six days, traffic violators in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, have been asked by the cops to pen a 100-word essay on why they didn’t wear helmets/protective headgear.
This initiative was launched as part of Road Safety Week and as many as 150 people were made to write such essays.
"During the ongoing Road Safety Week, riders of two- wheelers found without a helmet are being told to write an essay in 100 words to explain as to why they were violating this necessary safety norm,” Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Pradeep Chouhan was quoted as saying by the PTI.
It is being learnt that this initiative will be in place for some time though the efficacy of the same is not yet known.
