WITH FUEL PRICES AT ALL-TIME HIGH, KERALA ANNOUNCES PRICE CUT

The prices of petrol and diesel are reaching an all-time high for the last fortnight. Meanwhile, the Kerala government has reportedly decided to cut the fuel prices by Re 1 from Friday (June 1). During the period, petrol price rose by Rs 3.8 per litre and diesel by Rs. 3.38. The state becomes the first to announces a cut in order to reduce the burden on the people.
Announcing the cut in fuel prices, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the state has taken the decision even as the state is not doing well financially. He also urged that the Centre should slash the prices of petrol and diesel. He was quoted as saying, “This should be seen as our message to the Centre. Fuel prices cannot go up like this. They must slash prices so as to provide relief for the common man.”
The Oil Marketing Companies on Wednesday announced a reduction of 1 paisa per litre. The diesel price in Chennai now stands at Rs Rs. 73.17 per litre, while petrol is sold at Rs Rs. 81.42 per litre.
