In yet another shocking incident, a 21-year-old mentally-challenged tribal woman from West Bengal was gang-raped and iron rods were allegedly inserted in her private parts. The incident happened in Dehabandh Hatpara village when the woman was returning from a village festival. After raping her, she was allegedly left unconscious for more than 12 hours at the crime spot. One Ramprabesh Sharma and one of his associates were reportedly arrested in connection with the gang-rape. Both the accused hail from the same village as that of the orphaned survivor. She was reportedly married to a man from Bihar before a year and she has been living alone in her deceased father’s home ever since the marriage was deserted. The woman is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital.
