According to reports, two women in Uttarakhand had to give birth on the road as the ambulance service 108 didn’t pick their call. The relatives took Renuka Devi from Sambavat district to a hospital, which is 3km away, by walk. However, the hospital staff advised them to visit another hospital as the doctor was not available. Then they hired a vehicle to go to another hospital, which is 75 km away. The woman gave birth on the route as the vehicle was parked on the roadside. In another incident in the same district, another woman gave birth on the road as the ambulance service didn’t attend the call.
