Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has reportedly announced compensation of Rs 3.5 lakh each to the families of killed after the Utkal Express, travelling from Puri in Odisha to Haridwar in Uttarakhand, derailed in Muzaffarnagar of Uttar Pradesh. While the severely injured will receive Rs 50,000, those with mild injuries will get Rs 25,000, the minister reportedly said. UP government also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased.
