DAYS AFTER HYDERABAD HORROR, RAPE SURVIVOR WAS SET ON FIRE IN UNNAO 

As the nation is still under the shock of the brutal gangrape and murder of a veterinary doctor in Hyderabad, another horrifying case came to light this morning where a rape survivor was set ablaze in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district. 

This incident occurred today morning, allegedly by the men who are accused of raping her. According to News18 report, the accused, who was out on bail, attempted to burn the woman by dousing her with kerosene. Sadly, the woman was raped few months ago, after which she had filed a police complaint in March 2019.

With the help of alert locals, the woman was rushed and admitted to Lucknow's KGMU hospital where her condition is said to be critical. 

As per Unnao SP Vikrant Vir, the victim was on her way to Rai Bareilly for the hearing in the rape case when the man accused of raping her, along with four others, set her ablaze. 

Currently, three out of the five men have been arrested while teams have been formed to arrest the others. 

“The woman was set ablaze by five people out of which three have been arrested and two are on the run. Teams have been made to nab the other two men,” Unnao SP Vikrant Vir told media.

Minutes after the news went viral, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi reacted over the incident, stating that "Union Home Minister and UP Chief Minister blatantly lied saying that law and order situation in the state has improved. Seeing such incidents on daily basis is enraging," Gandhi said in a tweet.

This tragic incident is making headlines just a week after a charred body of 26-year-old doctor was found near a toll booth on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
