Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has reportedly confirmed that the subsidy for Haj pilgrims has been withdrawn. Naqvi further reportedly said, “This is part of our policy to empower minorities with dignity and without appeasement.” The subsidy would now be used for the education of minorities, particularly girls, the minister reportedly added. Naqvi further added that a record number of 1.75 lakh Muslims will undertake the pilgrimage this year, say reports.
