UNION CABINET UNDERGOES RESHUFFLING; SMRITI IRANI REMOVED AS I&B MINISTER

The Modi government underwent a cabinet reshuffling on Monday, just a day before the Karnataka election results. Reportedly, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley went through a kidney transplant at AIIMS on Monday and hence will not be able to handle the finance ministry.
Railways and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal was given the additional charge of the Finance and Corporate Affairs Ministry. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore replaced Smriti Irani and was made the new Information and Broadcasting Minister. Irani will now only take care of the textiles ministry.
According to a press release from the government, S S Ahluwalia who was the Minister of State for Drinking Water & Sanitation was assigned as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.
