A 37-year-old debt-ridden farmer, Jagadish Bahiru Shirsat, jumped in front of a running train near Lahavit station in Nashik district, as he was unable to pay off his debts. A suicide note found in the farmer's pocket stated that he was unable to repay a loan of Rs 1.5 lakh that he took from a state government scheme and therefore, resorted to the extreme step.
