UIDAI ADVISES PEOPLE TO NOT SHARE AADHAAR NUMBER ONLINE POST TRAI CHIEF'S CHALLENGE

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairman RS Sharma had challenged hackers last week to cause him harm and had posted his Aadhaar number online. Following his brave stunt, hackers dug into his personal details, including his residential address and phone number and tweeted it out.

On Sunday, a few hackers even hacked into his bank account and sent him Re 1. French security expert Elliot Anderson's series of tweets exposing the TRAI Chief raised huge concerns.

In response to the challenge, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) advised people to not share their Aadhaar number publicly. UIDAI tweeted, "Such activities are uncalled for and should be refrained as these are not in accordance with the law."

It slammed the act and sternly said that those who indulge in such acts are liable for prosecution.
