In a time of where women safety is an alien concept in India, a rare case of a noble Uber driver has made its rounds on social media. Many bizarre stories of Indian cab drivers and their antics have been reported over the recent past. However, the sweet story of driver Santosh is bound to make us forget the previous mishaps.
Priyashmita Guha shared her cab-experience on Twitter. Telling Uber, Priyashmita recounted how her driver stayed for over one-and-a-half hour to ensure that she and her mother reached home safely. Guha wrote, "My mother and I hailed an Uber on October 13 and were driven by a driver named Santosh to the place where we were staying that night."
However, when they were dropped home, their house was locked. Santosh was chivalrous enough to stay back for their safety. She wrote, "He refused to let us go & waited for 1.5 hours till we got in. Kudos to him. Mom and I eternally grateful."
Uber India responded back to her tweet saying, "The ability to truly go the extra mile and cater to one another in tough times is something that we are proud to recognize in #uberstar Santosh. Thanks for sharing. You made us smile, ear to ear!"
