Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Defence, slammed national television channel Doordarshan over airing an advertisement by cutting off the live telecast of the annual Tyagaraja Aradhana event in the channel, on Saturday. Angered by the ad, she tweeted calling the act as ‘thoughtless’ and ‘insensitive’. Notably, Tyagaraja Aradhana is an annual musical event in which Carnatic musicians sing in honour of Telugu saint-composer Tyagaraja.
Yo @DDNational what! You couldn’t wait for a few moments more for the Pancharatna Krithi-s to be completed. Advertisement and more. #Aradhana #Tyagaraja . Thoughtless, insensitive.
