After running off to London following a money laundering case, Vijay Mallya has recently said that he has made and will continue to make efforts to clear the huge debt he owes the public sector banks. He also stated that he is getting tired of the Indian government's relentless pursuit of him.
Mallya alleged that he had written to the PM and the finance minister, but got no response from them. He was quoted by the Reuters as saying, "Recovery of loans is a civil matter which has been criminalised in my case. Tired of this relentless pursuit of me by the government and its criminal agencies."
On Friday, the Enforcement Directorate moved the court and asked for the declaration of Mallya as a ‘fugitive offender’.
