A 19-year-old girl was allegedly stabbed to death just days ahead of her marriage by an alleged stalker after she refused to sit on bike. The murder took place in a market place in Ahmedabad's Bavla in broad daylight, reports TOI.
The victim succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. A joint team of police arrested the accused. Her father alleged to police that the accused used to stalk her on her way back from work.
The victim and her sister were standing at a pani puri stall on Wednesday evening when the accused along with his accomplices reached the spot on bike. He reportedly asked her to sit on his bike and when she refused his accomplices forced her. When she resisted, the accused reportedly stabbed her. Then the trio fled the spot.
When her parents reached the spot, they found her stabbed in the stomach and waist and bleeding. She was rushed to the hospital but she later died. The accused and his accomplices were booked and arrested. Initially, the victim's family refused to claim her body until the accused was arrested. But later the Deputy SP assured the family of unbiased probe and then the family began the process of claiming her body.
"Whether the attack happened because of a one sided affair or something else is a matter of investigation" he said.
