Former Miss India and actress Tanushree Dutta made a shocking claim in an interview with Zoom TV. Dutta recently returned back to India for the first time after a two-year stay in the US. In an interview with Zoom TV, Dutta opened up about being harassed on the sets of the film Horn 'Ok' Pleassss in 2009.
Dutta blamed none other than our Kaala villain, Nana Patekar. She said, "Everyone knows about Nana Patekar that he has always been disrespectful towards women. People in the industry know about his background... that he has beaten actresses, he has molested them, his behaviour with women has always been crude but no publication has printed anything about it."
Dutta claimed that Patekar wanted to do an intimate scene with her in a song. Upon her refusal, Patekar allegedly called up members of a political party to intimidate her. Dutta alleged to News18 on Tuesday that the goons even broke her car.
Tanushree Dutta also accused Ganesh Acharya, an established choreographer along with the film's director Rakesh Sarang and producer Samee Siddique of ganging up on her.
However, Acharya denied her accusations and told News18, "First of all, it’s a very old incident so I can’t really recall everything very clearly. But it was a duet song as far as I remember. Something did happen that day because the shooting was also stalled for over three hours. There was some sort of misunderstanding. But I can confirm that nothing this sort of happened. It’s a wrong statement that Nana Ji called members of some political party on set. It never happened.”
Dutta had claimed that she introduced Acharya and yet he complied with Patekar and stabbed her on the back. Acharya, however, dismissed her allegations and sided with Patekar. He said, "He’s a very sweet person, he can never do that. He is very helpful and he has actually helped a lot of artists in the industry, he can never do anything like that.”
Dutta stated that until people acknowledge what happened to her on set, movements like #MeToo will never reach India. She said that as long as big stars like Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth do not boycott Patekar, a good work environment can never be achieved. She had featured in a Tamil film opposite Vishal in Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai.
An official response to the allegations from Nana Patekar is yet to come.
