The Mumbai police has started investigating the case and will be probing into it from financial, professional rivalry and personal angle. The police decided to record the statements of Rhea Chakraborty and Mahesh Shetty.
Sushant Singh Rajput reportedly called Mahesh Shetty, his friend and another actor, on Sunday. However, Mahesh Shetty did not pick the call. He regretted it and also stated that “if he had, the situation might have been different.”
“The police have also recorded statements of Rajput's sister, the key maker who opened the lock to the residence, his two managers and cook. Rajput's friend Rhea Chakraborty was also quizzed by the police. According to sources, the cops also met family members of Sushant Singh Rajput, but the family has not raised any suspicion. Detailed statements are likely to be recorded on Tuesday, it is learnt,” Times Now reported.
Mahesh Shetty played a key role in Ekta Kapoor- backed Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, which market Sushant’s debut in the small screen. The two of them became good friends and teamed up for another project.
His team posted a statement on social media stating “As we are all deeply pained and shocked to hear about Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely demise. So is Mahesh Shetty. He has lost a brother, a very dear friend and is still coming to terms with the shock and reality and is completely heartbroken. We, his team, request the media and all of you, on his behalf, to please give him some privacy and let him grieve for his loss," read the post.
