NEWBORN SURROGATE BABY DESCENDED FROM THE SKIES IN AN AIR AMBULANCE; RECEIVED BY THE PARENTS
Home > News Shots > IndiaSonpari, a surrogate baby born in Surat on March 29 to a Bengaluru based couple, descended from the skies on Wednesday, as an air ambulance carried the baby to her parents. The Bengaluru based couple were unable to visit their 17-days-old daughter since she was born during the lockdown. They knew no bounds of joy when they carried their baby back home. The 42-year-old father expressed that it was a magical moment for him and his wife since they had been desperately wanting to see and hold the baby.
Dr Nadkari, the gynecologist who delivered the baby, told TOI that the parents were very nervous as they couldn’t fly or drive to Surat from Bangalore. She added that the mother had visited her a year ago and was recommended to go for IVF with surrogacy since she had a problem with her uterus.
Dr Singh and Dr Nadkarni were communicating with the parents via video calls after birth. The baby spent 17 days at Surat's 21st Century hospital. But the parents managed to arrange an air ambulance from Delhi to have the baby transported from Surat to Bangalore.
She was handed to the nurses in the air ambulance at Surat. All the safety protocols were followed and the baby was safely delivered to her parents within 3 hours.
