BOAT CARRYING 45 PASSENGERS CAPSIZES IN RIVER, RESCUE OPERATIONS ON

In a sad and shocking case, a boat with 45 passengers capsized in Jia Bharali river in Assam's Sonitpur district. Several people are currently reported to be missing.
The boat capsized around 11.30 am when it started moving from Bihiagaon to Borghat in the district.
As per India Today reports, the boat was heading from Bihia Gaon near Lal Tapu to Panch Mile area in Tezpur when the incident took place. Approximately, 40 to 45 people along with several motor bikes were onboard when the vessel capsized.
When the boat capsized, a few people managed to swim to safety, while others were rescued by the State Disaster Response Force.
On an immediate call, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and district administration personnel reached the spot and are on a mission to rescue the missing people.
