SC exempts municipal areas across nation from highway liquor ban

After passing an order on July 11 that municipal areas of Chandigarh are exempted from the highway liquor ban, the Supreme Court on Monday reportedly clarified that the order extends to all municipal areas across the country. Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra reportedly reserved the orders. The top court’s clarification comes after the Tamil Nadu government on the instruction of Madras High Court approached SC to clear the air on the issue.
