According to National Commission for Women's Chairperson, Rekha Sharma, V.K. Sasikala has not been wearing the uniforms prisoners are meant to wear at the Parappana Agrahara Central prison in Bengaluru. Allegedly, Rekha had recently been to the prison and saw Sasikala and her relative, Illavarasi wearing normal clothes and not uniforms. When Rekha Sharma inquired the jail officials, they have answered that Sasikala does not have to wear uniforms as she is in a higher category. However, former DIG, Roopa had claimed that all convicts have to wear the same white uniform regardless of their category.
