In today’s session of the Lok Sabha, a Bill to hike the salaries of the judges of the Supreme Court and the 24 High Courts has reportedly been passed. Once the Bill becomes a law after it is cleared by the Parliament, the salaries of the judges will increase two-fold. Chief Justice of India will get a monthly salary of Rs. 2.80 lakh compared to the present salary of Rs.1 lakh and the judges of the Supreme Court and Chief Justices of the High Courts will draw a monthly salary of Rs 2.50 lakh from the current salary of Rs. 90,000.
