RS 125 COIN TO BE RELEASED ON FRIDAY

Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu will release Rs 125 coin on Friday along with new set of Rs 5 coin on the occasion of Statistics Day as a tribute to reputed statistical genius Mahalanobis, who set up the Indian Statistical Institute in 1931.
 

The government chose June 29 as Statistics Day in the category of special days to be celebrated every year at the national level in 2007.

Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) will conduct an event at Kolkata on the same day to celebrate Statistics Day.
