The health ministry has reportedly proposed changes in the law to restrict the use of terms like ‘fresh’, ‘healthy’, ‘original’ and ‘traditional’ in food advertisements. Reports say, a draft prepared by the Food Safety and Security Authority of India (FSSAI) that has five schedules also deals with restrictions on health claims of the products. Further, the report added that nutritional and health values should scientifically validate the basis of the claim.
