An audit report by Comptroller and Auditor General has revealed that the catering services in Indian Railways offered food stuff that is contaminated, recycled, unauthorised and past shelf life. It reportedly said frequent changes in the catering policy of the railways have created a state of uncertainty in the management of catering services provided to the passengers. It is also alleged that cleanliness and hygiene are not being maintained, bills are not being given for the food items served in mobile units in trains.
