RAILWAYS CANCEL PASSENGER TRAINS; RESERVATION AND REFUND DETAILS ALSO ANNOUNCED!
Home > News Shots > IndiaThe Indian Railways, cancelled the passenger train services until August 2020. However, the special Rajdhani trains that were started in May will continue to be functional across the country.
The regular time-tabled mail or express trains and suburban rail services across the country stand suspended. The 200 special mail and express train services introduced from June 1 will function until August 12. "All tickets booked for the regular time-tabled trains for journey dates from 1.07.2020 to 12.08.2020 may be cancelled and full refunds generated," the railway board announced.
Refund rules:
- Refund can be applied within 6 months from the date of the journey. The Ticket Deposit Receipt must be submitted within 60 days and the refund will be adjusted after verification.
- If the ticket was booked online, then the refund amount will be credited back to the source bank account.
- Passengers can also cancel Passenger Reservation System counter tickets from the official website of IRCTC.
"For PRS counter tickets, the application for the claiming refund of balance amount of cancellation charge should be addressed to the offices of chief claim officers or chief commercial manager or refund (CCM-Refund) of concerned zonal railway headquarters through post in the prescribed format within six months of scheduled date of journey," the ministry said.
