Anti-GAIL protests in Kerala’s Kozhikode reportedly turned violent as protesters blocked the roads with lighted tyres and threw stones at police on Wednesday. To disperse the crowd, police resorted to lathi-charge, fired tear gas shells and forcefully removed the protestors from the spot. Ten protestors have reportedly been arrested by the local police. A hartal has been called in Kodiyathur and Karassery grama panchayats in Kozhikode district on Thursday to condemn the police action.
