Following the increasing number of cases filed against the viral Manikya Malarayi Poovi song, Priya Prakash Varrier who features in the song and the makers of the movie Oru Adaar Love have approached the Supreme Court seeking to quash the cases filed against the song as they felt that the filing of the cases violated their freedom of speech and expression and the right to life and liberty. In their petition, they mentioned that as the song has been cherished by more than one crore Muslims in the state, it could not “seriously offend” their sentiments.
